Flying Cow Leaves Two Police Cars in Flames

Filed under: General — Andy @ 5:49 pm

Yep. It really happened.

So, I should really be posting to my blog more often, but I’ve not got much to say. If anyone wants a free T-Mobile HotSpot DayCard, throw me an email (or leave a comment), and I’ll send you a code. I’ve got six. (be warned: they expire at the end of this month)

I’m pretty much working on robotics now (and the associated website work on the BBIQ section), so there’s not much progress in other things. As an aside, it appears that the entirety of the software team that could go is going to be allowed to go, which is great. (not official yet, mind you, so it might change).

School’s been pretty busy recently, and I need to take another look at some math stuff, but I’m alright otherwise.

Speaking of BBIQ, I’d appreciate it if anyone with some significant bandwidth that wants to help with video distribution would contact me. That would be great. Otherwise, I’m going to have to fall back on Coral, which isn’t bad, just slow.

I’ll post more when there’s more to post,

Andy Schmitz

PPPoE Issues

Filed under: General — Andy @ 4:03 pm

So, I’m still working on fixing my server, but apparently the internet wasn’t working at my end earlier today. Not clear what it was, often we have these problems after rain (it rained this morning), but not long after I power-cycled the router and modem, it was working alright.

If the problems continue, I’ll figure something else out.

Thanks,

Andy

Whee! That was fun.

So, I’ve officially spent the last 24 hours working on my server, trying to get it upgraded. In the process, I learned a lot of things that I should do next time, and plenty more that I should avoid doing next time. Anyway, sorry for the downtime. I’m sure there are still a few problems around somewhere, probably in the notes and captcha portions of lardbucket.org. I’ve verified that most things work though (GD to some level, register_globals, mod_rewrite, and the other niceties that everybody using the server is used to.), at least through the web server.

If you notice any problems, let me know. I currently know about:

  • CAPTCHA system (fixed)
  • Gaim 2.0 CVS Builds page (fixed)
  • SVN Server (fixed)
  • Weed (removed)
  • Anything on bdoor (fixed)
  • Alpha on 80 (don’t ask if you don’t already know) (includes Beta too)
  • Notes (fixed)
  • FTP (fixed. again.)
  • Uploads to Galleries (fixed)
  • Authentication in .htaccess (fixed, should use AuthBasicProvider or AuthDigestProvider)
  • Mosaic (fixed) (you shouldn’t know about this though)

People who have accounts on this server should read on.
