Blogging at Superhuman Speed
Beyond the fact that I’m now blogging more often than ever(?!), now I can apparently blog at superhuman speeds.

Whee. And it works as a GPS device too, now that I’ve figured that out. If only I’d figured that out for last Thursday…
That’s about it for today.

Interesting. Not sure how often you’ll need to know the altitude though.
New rule: You’re not allowed to run your laptop in route to a math team meet.

Yeah, most of that info is useless without a map, and I’m really not sure how often I’ll need to know the altitude. That said, it’s really fickle inside a car. It turns out that you have to trick it into turning on - otherwise it won’t turn on without a clear view of 7-8 satellites (3-4 is enough for a decent measurement). Not to mention the fact that it’s just plain wrong sometimes (it currently thinks I’m about 300 yards off of the road that I’m sure I’m on). I wouldn’t worry about it on math meets (you were referring to speed, I’m guessing?) - there’s no log and I wouldn’t want to make one anyway. Besides, we figured out the average speed last time using just stopwatches - it wasn’t too far off the, uh, “expected value.”

I have no idea what you are talking about. I always obey all posted speed limits. Nor do I recall an actual stopwatch.
I meant that you aren’t allowed to use your laptop in the van because, uhm, I have no idea why I said that.

Of course. I wouldn’t mean to imply that anyone would not obey the posted speed limits, just that it might be different than what, uh, Google might say regarding how long the trip should take. I was speaking of that speed, since everyone seemed to quote it when heading to a math meet. But then again, you know how wildly off those things can be, so it doesn’t really matter.
(My wristwatch doubles as a stopwatch.)
Oh, and using it with some direction-giving software actually works reasonably well - when it can get a satellite signal, anyway.
